May 1, 2025Cool Aza Beel winners coming thick and fast
Winners for Newhaven Park resident sire Cool Aza Beel are coming thick and fast with the debut victory of Don’t Tellyafather at Ipswich on the final day of April the third recorded by the stallion’s first-crop 2-year-olds in a very short space of time.
Don’t Tellyafather’s success for trainer Matthew Dunn followed closely on the heels of the win of Cool Archie (for Chris & Corey Munce) at Doomben in mid-April, and of Gable (for Leon & Troy Corstens & Will Larkin) at Geelong just a few days before that. All three juveniles scored in very encouraging fashion and promised much more to come.

Cool Aza Beel is now the sire of four individual 2-year-old winners with his first crop to race, Cool Aza Rene having opened up the winning account at the beginning of the current New Zealand juvenile season. In addition, Cobra Club stakes-placed at his career debut, flashing home to finish runner-up in the ATC Inglis Nursery-RL. All of which is a glowing advertisement for Cool Aza Beel.
Notably, three of Cool Aza Beel’s four winners are also a ringing endorsement for the Newhaven Park draft offered at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Don’t Tellyafather and Cool Archie were both sold through the Bundall sales ring at the beginning of last year, as was the breed’s very first winner Cool Aza Rene.
Just for the record, this season’s Group 3 winner The Playwright—bred, raised and sold by Newhaven Park and now an earner of $824,500 in prizemoney to date—was also a member of the very same 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale consignment!
