January 7 – Demand for the progeny of Newhaven Park’s exciting young sire Delago Deluxe continued during the second session of the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Thursday with a further four youngsters selling for up to $250,000.
The day started well with Milburn Creek selling a Delago Deluxe colt from Flamingo Sky for $140,000 to Gary Moore Racing, with a colt from Graphic following not long after to fetch $100,000 for Newhaven Park when secured by McEvoy Mitchell Racing.
Shadwell Australasia upped the ante when paying $250,000 for Newhaven Park’s Delago Deluxe colt from Increase and then Gai Waterhouse/ Julian Blaxland stepped into action to buy Newhaven’s colt from Lounge for $200,000.
She likened the colt from Lounge to the progeny of her former star galloper and subsequently super successful sire Northern Meteor.
“He’s (Delago Deluxe) a son of Encosta and this colt reminds me very much of the Northern Meteor type mould of yearlings,” Waterhouse said.
“He’s a fluent moving, lovely type of colt.”
After two sessions, Delago Deluxe has had seven yearlings average $162,857, an incredible result from his $11,000 service fee!
