Australian bred South African Group One winner Strategic News was in the winner’s circle at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday when he scored over 1600 metres on turf by a length and a half.

The six year-old gelding scored the biggest win of his career in November 2007 when taking out the One Steinhoff International Summer Cup over 2000 metres at Turffontein and has the overall record of five wins and five placings from 17 starts.

Now trained by Herman Brown, having been previously trained by Dylan Cunha Strategic News (pictrued) will be worth following at the Dubai carnival in coming weeks.

Bred and offered for sale by Newhaven Park, Strategic News fetched $40,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale when knocked down to Cunha.

By the now Darley based sire Strategic, the chestnut entire is the first foal of the Grand Lodge (USA) mare Sensuous, a half-sister to Group Two winner De France and Group Three winner Whistler.
