September 15, 2025Interstate Spring stakes race double for Newhaven graduates
The best day of domestic racing staged so far in season 2025-26 witnessed a notable interstate stakes race double recorded by Newhaven Park graduates when Café Millenium won at Listed Race level at Flemington and Autumn Glow added a further Group race at Rosehill to her perfect race record.
Café Millenium, born & raised at Newhaven Park, continued his newfound winning form for Lindsay Park Racing when landing the VRC Tontonan Stakes (LR) and going back-to-back at black-type level for his breeders/owners Finemore Thoroughbreds & Planette Thoroughbred.
The Not a Single Doubt gelding always showed talent from Day One, but a recent switch to racing left-handed has reaped rich reward for his deserved connections, the 5-year-old having also claimed the Listed SAJC Leon Macdonald Stakes at his previous outing and three of his five starts for Ben, Will & JD Hayes.
The corresponding program in Sydney saw Autumn Glow — a Newhaven Park bred, raised & sold graduate — live right up to expectations in the ATC Theo Marks Quality (Gr.2) and maintain her unbeaten status. The exceptional daughter of The Autumn Sun has now won all six of her starts — all but one at Group 2, Group 3 or Listed Race level.
Such was the extent of Autumm Glow’s latest victory, the performance had racecaller Darren Flindell hail her as a ”Magic Mare”, trainer Chris Waller’s assistant Charlie Duckworth claim ”She has got endless gears”, and winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy state “She’s a star in the making, which is what we already know.”
Autumm Glow’s emphatic success in Theo Marks Quality saw the exceptional 4-year-old further firm in the market for the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) to be run at Randwick on October 4. Tab.com.au now have her as short as $1.90, and all of her potential rivals at either double or triple figure quotes.
