Impressive Trial Win for English

Sydney, February 23 – Running the fastest time of four juvenile heats over 734 metres at Randwick on Monday morning was the Gai Waterhouse trained Encosta de Lago filly English, who opened up to win her heat by more than five lengths in 43. 2 seconds.

A homebred for Newhaven Park, English won easily at Kembla on debut on January 31 as favourite so will no doubt be stepping up in grade in coming weeks and on appearances to date seems up to the task.

A half-sister to promising winner Puzzle, English is the second foal from dual Group II winning Anabaa (USA) mare Court, who comes from the family of outstanding racehorse and sire Grand Lodge (USA).

Entered for the Golden Slipper and several rich juvenile races at The Championships , English looks a lovely filly for the future.

Her dam Court missed in 2013 so had no foal in 2014, but was covered by champion sire Redoute’s Choice last year.
